A highly decorated career diplomat with deep experience in complex political environments. Jimmy served as U.S. Ambassador to Venezuela, Chargé d’Affaires to Angola and São Tomé and Príncipe, and Senior Civilian Representative in southeastern Afghanistan. He also held senior roles across Latin America, Africa, and the Caribbean, including Director of INL for the Western Hemisphere and Consul General in Rio de Janeiro. He is a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a member of the American Academy of Diplomacy, and a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council. He is a frequent contributor to MS NOW, The New York Times, and Bloomberg.
